It is sad that when going to supermarkets most of our food and veg come from 1000s of km away. Altough a small island we still have fields that by time are being abandoned. The government should create a scheme to organize farmers and join them under one company. That way they start becoming more efficient and competitive.
This should form the basis for an electoral promise and carried out by a future PN government. Might be difficult to organise some 14,000 farmers into one company but further efforts to organise farmers should be made.
