I propose that the PN sets up an autonomous Ethics Committee cum Internal Auditor composed of no nonsense persons of undoubted integrity including a qualified auditor to monitor the conduct of PN members of Parliament, vet their Assets Returns before these are submitted to the Speaker to ensure that the honest governance being promised is not prejudiced by some naive lack of judgement of MP's (apologies if such a committee already exists).
If people become convinced that their leaders are clean they will become more actively interested in politics. They will not be afraid to join in for fear of being associated with a corrupt activity. Most Maltese (now more than ever) associate politics with sleaze. This has led to many to even give up voting. An independent powerful Ethics committe as watchdog would be a good start.
