Discounts at local shops with a train/bus ticket

Would help encourage sustainable transport

Great idea. But you need lots more buses, more regular service and of course more trains. And buses which actually connect with the trains! What evidence of these discounts for bus ticket holders is there from past schemes in the area.. I have seen them advertised, but as I cycle was never able to take advantage of them. I did talk to a cafe owner who said they had never had anyone show a bus ticket. I was not surprised.

Local shops take the hit on their income/profit.
